on donating yarn

December, 2015

A client took a whole car boot full of yarn she won’t use to the Helen Bamber Foundation the other day.  She also gave them a few accessories; some knitting needles and a couple of stitch counters.

The Helen Bamber Foundation helps people who have experienced torture, trafficking and other forms of cruelty.  My mate Anna, who volunteers at their knitting group, says they are always interested to have knitting yarns donated. She says 'the group is wonderful - getting involved with helping out there has shown me how soothing knitting can be - especially for people who struggle with pain and loneliness.'

My client phoned them first to check they wanted what she had to offer, they did. Happiness all round.
